If We Were Gone: imagining a world without people by John Coy, illustrated by Natalie Capannelli. PICTURE BOOK. Millbrook (Lerner), 2020. $20. 9781541523579
BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
While humans need nature in order to survive, does nature need us? No – they don’t need us at all. So maybe it is important for humans to take care of nature.
I love Coy’s other way around look at why we should take care of the world around us. Capannelli’s illustrations are fine, but not inspirational. I can overlook that shortcoming for Coy’s message.
