A young girl grows a garden and is thrilled when it is ready to harvest. Together with her family they decide who in their neighborhood could use which fruits and vegetables and distribute them accordingly. They feel good about their ability to share food and brighten other peoples’ days.
This would be a good book to read if your school is doing a garden. It highlights the service that can go along with taking care of the earth and eating healthy food. Without the context of growing your own garden, this book could easily be a little boring for many readers.
