Nick is going to have a birthday party and he challenges his friends to use no single use plastic. He invites his friends to a picnic on the beach and encourages them to use cloth bags and items made of materials other than plastic. Nick's mom even wraps their sandwiches in wax paper. Nick and his friends end up having a great time on the beach for the birthday party. They also learn a lot about plastic pollution.
Along with beautiful illustrations, there are two stories on each page of the book: one, the birthday party, the other non-fiction info about plastic. The kids learn that plastic is littering our oceans, getting into our food chain and damaging our environments. I like that the book gives good advice on how each of us can help clean up and become part of the No-Plastic Challenge ourselves.
