Grandma Dorothy loved gardens, and she instilled that love in her daughter Hillary and her granddaughter Chelsea. Gardens are places to celebrate, to teach, to discover, and to learn. Gardens are the homes for many animals, they give us food, they allow us to create beauty. Now there is another generation and Chelsea's children learn the same lessons their mother and grandmother learned.
What a special legacy. Grandma's gardens is a delightful story about family, gardening, and traditions. Such a sweet book - while not a how-to book about gardening, it is certainly a how-to book about teaching your children to respect nature and showing appreciation for the things your mother has taught. I liked the different voices - sometimes Hillary was narrating, sometimes it was Chelsea. I liked that Chelsea grew up over the course of the book - from a toddler to a mother with children of her own. This would make a nice mother's day gift.
