When the children's mother must leave the iglu for a while to help deliver a baby, their father is left in charge of Susan, Peter and Rebecca. At first the children play all the regular games, drawing pictures on the ice window, playing with dolls, telling stories and playing hide and seek - but eventually the fun of the games runs out, so Ataata (father) brings out the precious pencil and invites Susan to draw. It makes for a fun afternoon, but what happens when Anaana (mother) gets home - the pencil isn't a toy!

Based on an incident in the author's life, this real story about using things wisely and appreciating what you have is well told and beautifully illustrated. A delightful #ownvoices story includes author information, and a glossary.
