Gidget, a pug dog, always had a lot of energy, so when his owner saw other dogs in a surfing competition she knew it would be a good fit for Gidget. Gidget was good at balancing on the board and quickly started to win competitions. The story is paired with information on waves and the dynamics of surfing.
It was fun to see pictures of a dog surfing, especially a little dog dressed all in pink. Once that novelty wears off though, the book is lacking a compelling storyline. The author spends a considerable amount of time describing the competition, but I never really felt invested in those events.
