Ten-year-old Aster is not happy about leaving her home in the city to live in the middle of nowhere with slow internet connection. When she finally starts exploring outside, though, Aster finds plenty to keep her busy: a weird old woman, a magic trickster, and even the King of Autumn. Let’s just hope Aster’s involvement doesn’t have any lasting effects.
Aster’s naivety gets her into a few mishaps through the two magical adventures she has, and the creative solutions Pico comes up with for her were fun to read. The illustrations are beautifully done, and the strange creatures that Aster meets are my favorite part. One of the main messages is to spend more time outside, and, I admit, I do feel motivated to get out and have some adventures of my own.
