Mario asks his mother "why do we cry?" She explains to him that we cry for a lot pf reasons: sadness, anger, when we don't understand, when we need a hug, to help us grow and many more reasons, even because we are happy.
I had never thought about the emotional science of why we cry! I loved the mother's answers - they include some beautiful allusions as well. Sender's illustrations are beautiful, featuring a girl experiencing all the reasons.Tears are a universal language - in the end notes we learn more facts about tears; the different types, even how much they weigh and why we feel better when we've had a good cry (good to know!). This will make a lovely addition to my middle school library.
