This is a sweet story about a young girl and her grandfather. Her grandfather's blue pickup truck is his prized possession. They enjoy spending quality time together fixing it up together. The granddaughter is very handy and knows the names of all of the tools. Her grandfather even gives her her own ratchet set. The blue pickup is more than a truck, it represents what her grandfather has done and how he has helped his community. Tripplett has written a cute story about how a granddaughter bonds with her grandfather through a shared hobby.

I liked at the end of the story how there was a note from the author with a picture of the real blue pickup truck. The plot wasn't very exciting, so I'm not sure a lot of kids would choose to read this. The author is from Jamaica and grew up in the state of Washington.
