"Too Much" shows the hardships and triumphs of having a big family. We follow Russell through his part in the school play, and the anxiety that can follow between balancing practicing for his role and making time for his family. We also see bits and pieces of Russell's culture and family dynamic as a Native American.
Although his family and the things around him can be overwhelming, he loves his family and they support him, through his part in the play and otherwise. This book is great for kids with families that are big or small, as they can all relate to the story. Kids in native families would probably align with it more than most. It had a great resolution and showed a great example of a happy and supportive family. The main character and his family are Native American.
