APPEALS TO SEVERAL

Two cousins reunite for 6th grade. Riley is outgoing and a gymnast, and Maya is an introvert and interested in robotics. They struggle to find common ground as they share a room and get ready for middle school. When an over zealous vice principal threatens to squelch the things they love most about school, they band together to take on the challenge.

I liked that the cousins were from diverse backgrounds. The art is bright and colorful and the panels are easy to follow and read. The vice principal seems very one dimensional and the cousins have some skills trained CIA operatives would be jealous of. That said, the cousins are likable once they put their differences aside and there are certainly worse super heroes than girls who want to save the library and after-school programs! Riley Halfmoon is Muscogee, and Maya Dawn is black.
