A young girl finds a pecan seed and decides to plant it in a pot and water it until it is big enough to plant outside. The tree becomes a wonderful place for their intergenerational Black family to climb, and enjoy the shade and nuts. What could you do with a seed?
I really liked the poetic format of Nell Plants A Seed. I liked the way that they interspersed Nell's actions of growing a tree with all the love and living that her family enjoyed around the tree. I enjoyed the beautiful heartfelt illustrations on every page. A great story for Earth Day.
