Vanishing Colors by Constance Orbeck-Nilssen - ADVISABLE

BUYING ADVISORY: EL - ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

A little girl and her mother are sheltering for the night in a bombed out building in a bombed out city. In her dreams she sees the black bird that her mother always said would protect them.  Together the girl and the bird remember the times before everything around the girl became black, gray, and broken.

So many great books coming out to help even small children understand the refugee experience – or to let little refugees know that many someone empathize with them.  Together author, translator, and illustrator weave a beautiful journey from despair to hope.
