A baby--wrapped up on his mother's back--goes to the open air market with Mom. While she shops, various sellers give the baby treats. He eats a bit of each and puts the rest in his mom's basket. At the end of the trip, Mom is surprised to find so many goodies in her basket!
This is a brightly illustrated book featuring an African baby and mother on a shopping expedition, and I loved the focus on a different culture in a board book! The treats he eats vs the ones he puts in the basket come out to be a simple math lesson for the reader and baby. The fact that mom has no idea its going on made me smile. I think this is a great pick--and one that fills a pretty obvious void in the board book market in terms of diversity.
