America the Grateful: Where Thanksgiving Really Began by Lisa Suhay, - OPTIONAL

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW

Divided in two parts, this book first covers the initial landing of pilgrims at Berkeley Plantation and then goes through a list of all the things there are to be thankful for.

Primarily about what the first Thanksgiving was not, this book falls a bit flat for lack of information. Additionally, the illustrations in this book look like photographs amateurly turned into cartoons. I put this book down disappointed that I was more confused than when I started about what the first thanksgiving really was.
