When Ibura, the Ruler of Springs, married the Sun God, he agreed to let her visit her mother, The Giantess of the Great River, but she can't take her son. When she arrives at her mother's palace, she can't find her - she's been imprisoned by a rival who wants her lands. By the time the problem is worked out, it's been more than the allowed 3 months, and she returns to find the Sun God has remarried and sent their son away. In her sadness, she returned to her mother and cried and cried, missing and hoping to find her son.

An origin story for why we have the rainy season in Brazil. I had not heard this story before and enjoyed it very much. Martina Peluso's illustrations are full color and help convey the story to the reader. A great length to be read in one sitting.
