Martin is not at all excited about starting Kindergarten.  He will miss his mother.  He will miss his Teddy.  He really does not want this phase of his life to begin.  His little sister on the other hand would be thrilled to start school.  “You’re still too young, “Mom said. “This year it’s Martin’s turn.” “He’s so lucky!” Anna said.  When Martin finds out that his friends will be at school with him, that there is a playground where he can play ball, and that all his parents expect is for him to do his best, Martin’s attitude slowly changes and he is excited for this new adventure!

School is Coming is the perfect picture book to help calm beginning kindergarten fears of leaving Mom and/or Dad and going to school.  Martin’s little sister’s excitement is a wonder to Martin because he would simply rather stay home.  Listing all of the fun and exciting aspects of school as well as calming Martin’s fears helps him get excited.  The illustrations are detailed and fun!  Children will love this picture book!
