Mrs. Badger walks to the top of Sugarloaf Peak every Sunday. Along the way, she visits with neighbors as she demonstrates kindness to all.  One day, she meets a young friend who would like to go along on her walk but is afraid the way will be too hard.  Mrs. Badger encourages her friend to reach her goal. They share their love of the mountain.

Although this story contains beautiful illustrations, the moral taught seems transparent.  As an adult, it felt as if someone were lecturing on how to be a strong, kind person. Seen through a child’s eyes, the simple lesson taught may be apropos.
