A BIG Mooncake for Little Star by Grace Lin - ADVISABLE

A BIG Mooncake for Little Star by Grace Lin PICTURE BOOK Hachette (Little, Brown), 2018. $18. 9780316404488

BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Little Star's Mama has made a moon cake for her, and laid it in the night sky to cool. She reminds Little Star that it needs to last awhile and not to touch it, but in the night, Little Star can't resist and eats just a small bite. Night after night, she nibbles just a little bit of the moon, until eventually it is all gone!

Grace Lin's original origin story for the phases of the moon is beautifully illustrated on black pages. Little Star is adorable and the crumbs on her mouth are precious. A delightful new story to share during the moon festival or as a bedtime story.
