AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

This is a true account of a Japanese pilot who bombed Oregon during World War II. After the war he was able to come back to Oregon and reconciliate with the people there. This shares a story not as well known in American history with a beautiful ending of reconciliation and forgiveness.

I really enjoyed learning about this story about World War II. It reads in a way that is very engaging and appealing to younger readers, in addition to being informative for older readers. The illustrations are beautifully done. It is also inspiring to hear of forgiveness and healing after such a devastating war in our history.
