Chipmunk chirps all day. Sometimes happy songs, sometimes sad, but she wants a friend to listen to her. On her search of the forest, she finds a pinecone and brings it home to be with rock (where she lives) While Pinecone gets along with Rock, and is just as good a listener, neither sang along, so off she goes to find a friend. This time, it's a log too big to move, but a raccoon comes to help, hears her song and sings along, so does a moose. Maybe Chipmunk is looking for the wrong type of friend.
Scott Magoon's illustrations are really cute, and the story is sweet. AJ noticed right away that Chipmunks pinecone and rock weren't things that can really be friends, and was so glad the raccoon and moose found Chipmunk. We also talked about songs sang a happy song and a sad song.
