At lunch time all the kids enjoy swapping food, but Noa will not swap today. Her food is special and she wants to enjoy every morsel of it. The other kids are curious about the crunchy bread she is eating. She tells them of her people being enslaved by a Pharaoh. She tells them about Moses and how when her people fled there was no time to let bread rise, so they made flat bread, called Matzah. She tells them of Passover. They all want to try it. For the rest of the week Noa brings Passover food so all the students can share this special time with her.
I liked the story and it would be a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn more about Passover and the Jewish dietary requirements. The story is written in rhyming verse, and the illustrations show Noa's very culturally diverse classmates. In the back of the book there is a small snippet of information about Passover.
