BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - ESSENTIAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
June lives with his mom, his brother and his father. June's father flies far away and is gone for long periods of time. June's favorite fruit is a tangerine. One day father says they are going to plant a tangerine tree. June is so excited. Father explains that next time he comes home the tree will be bigger, and so will June. Then one day it's time for goodbye again as dad flies off to work. June is worried something will happen to the tangerine tree and that if it does, will father even come home again?
Sometimes it is hard for children to understand why a parent is gone so much. When they are back together again things are wonderful. I loved this book and its beautiful illustrations. I hope to see more books from this talented author/illustrator. A really worth while reading experience.
