AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

The book is about sports activities that young children often take part in. It talks about how you should participate in the sport of your choice and do it for the enjoyment of doing it. It is important to focus more on the enjoyment of what you do instead of focusing on winning and loosing. It shows children how to be "a good sport" and to put their best effort into what they do. It is important to be kind even if you are tough at the same time.

I liked that the story was written in rhyme. I flowed easy and the beautiful and colorful illustrations showed the story in pictures and it is easy to follow for young children. A couple of my young grandchildren have participated in sports and they loved this book when I read it to them. We discussed the story, the pictures and connected it to the sports they played. They said how much fun they had even when they lost the game. I think children will love having this read to them, and maybe it will encourage some children to participate in sports activities.
