Annie is a girl growing up in Ireland near a seaside beach. She enjoys the things she sees and learns while exploring there, but she does not enjoy going to school. Annie struggles to learn in the same way that others do, prompting her mum and others to seek ways to help Annie grow and develop. Then one day a man comes along and takes pictures, listens to Annie's stories, and Annie begins to develop normally.

This book begins by saying all things can be turned into a tale. This is an example of that: a fantastical look at a young girl's life, difficult to understand and categorize, but made magical and mysterious by the stories told to explain it all. It is relatively long for a picture book (56 pages) with a lot of text. It is a bit otherworldly, tied in with stories of the sea and men who come and go. I would let this one go.
