Baby Blue lives in a bright, blue world and loves riding his blue bike. One day, Baby Blue rips open his blue world to find another bright world shining through. This new world is scary, and Baby Blue isn’t quite sure what to do with it.
Knowing that this book is published by the APA made me read Baby Blue’s story in a different way than I think I would have otherwise. I think teaching kids coping skills like the ones Baby Blue uses is important, and Abbot uses the example of Baby Blue to do it here. The simplicity of the illustrations create a comforting atmosphere for readers, showing that these lessons are also simple and can be emulated by all readers.
