Ben Yokoyama is a third grader who gets a fortune in a cookie that says, “Live each day as if it were your last.” Ben, convinced that his last day of earth is upon him, decides to accomplish every goal and dream on his bucket list. Ben’s “last day” is full of adventures and misadventures as he races the clock to midnight.

With illustrations on practically every page, the story clips along. Ben’s storyline is funny and witty and filled with great characters as well as great similes. Everyone should have a friend like Janet in their lives. For every kid (and adult) who has ever wondered about the veracity of fortune cookies, this is a fun, imaginative read.
