To the Future, Ben Franklin (Magic Tree House #32) by Mary Pope Osborne, illustrated by AG Ford
, 89 pages. Random House Children's Books (Penguin Random House), 2019. $6. Content: G

BUYING ADVISORY: EL -- ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Annie and Jack magically travel back in time to Old Philadelphia, looking to help someone named Dr. Ben. They eventually discover that they are to encourage Benjamin Franklin to sign the United States Constitution, but first they get to show him the wonders of modern-day America. To anyone familiar with the Magic Tree House series, this book reads exactly as expected, apart from Morgan le Fay's appearance near the end of the book.

Fans of this book will be either devotees of the Magic Tree House series, or someone interested in Ben Franklin (or both). It is a fanciful way to imagine a well-known character out of his time and a nice way to look at America as making a lot of progress since its inception.
