Using clues, a footprint and an illustration of a part of the animal, children are encouraged to guess whose footprint they are looking at. The next page shows the animal, and tells an interesting fact or two about its feet.
Darrin Lunde manages the mammal collection at the Smithsonian, so he knows a lot about them. He also wrote "Whose Poop is that?" I loved the variety of animals, and the surprise question at the end - perfect for a young reader to figure out themselves. Kelsey Oseid's illustrations are accurate and relevant. These short non-fiction picture books make science so much fun.
