The four S.T.E.A.M.-loving friends are back, and this time they are preparing for a talent show. They decide to form a band, complete with home-made instruments that showcase their individual artistic and engineering talents. But when rain pours through a leaky roof, ruining all their hard work, they have a decision to make: rebuild the band, or disband altogether.
Making the Band is another nice installment in the Craftily Ever After series, and it is just as good as the first one. The story is entertaining, and the curiosity about whether or not the group can pull off their talent show debut adds some suspense. The friends are positive and persistent in the face of challenges, but not unrealistically so. And, finally, the S.T.E.A.M. component and instructions at the end of the book will likely entice some kids to make their own instruments. All in all a good addition to a school or classroom library.
