History gets twisted around in this story
about the first flight to the moon with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Instead of landing on the moon, Neil and Buzz
find themselves in Texas in 1869, where they run into Nat Love, a famous cowboy
from his time. Modern day siblings, Doc
and Abby, try to unscramble history as they time travel to 1869 and attempt to
get Neil and Buzz back on the spaceship headed for the moon, but not everything
works out the way it’s supposed to.
Sheinkin’s
Time Twister series feels similar to the Magic Tree House series. The biggest difference is that readers would
have to have a foundation in the history of the first flight to the moon to understand
what is supposed to be happening in this book. Adding to the confusion, Abraham Lincoln shows up to help Doc and Abby unscramble history. Also, the illustrations aren’t that appealing. Overall, the Time Twister series aren’t as
good as Sheinkin’s non-fiction books.
