BUYING ADVISORY: PRE-K -OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Lucy tells her
unicorn (goat) named Sparkle all about Christmas. There is lots to do and
celebrate, but of primary concern to Lucy is presents. She takes Sparkle
shopping and gets him many presents, and is sure Sparkle has something special
in mind for her. When Christmas morning arrives, Lucy discovers that Sparkle
has apparently not given her a gift, then he knocks over the tree and eats the
stockings.
Way too long for a board book. The ending is confusing too. I am not really
sure what Sparkle got Lucy, I didn’t realize there was magic in this series. I
sort of wish he got her to stop focusing on presents, but that doesn’t seem to
be the case. I loved the first book in this series, but I just don’t think it
carries over well into other books. The illustrations are wonderful. Lower
elementary fans may like the picture book version.
