A little boy
experiences the perception of time in this story. He is shown in a variety of
situations where five minutes seems too fast, too slow, and finally just right
(sort of). For example, five minutes wait for a ride is a lifetime, but on the
ride, five minutes is just too fast. Five minutes asleep on a car ride goes
really fast! There are many more situations presented.
This would be
an incredibly fun book for younger grade teachers to read before the lessons on
telling time. Perception of time vs actual time is an interesting concept that
will get them thinking about time in an abstract way. It could make for a fun
activity as well, to notice actively notice the passage of time. The situations
presented are fun, funny, and easy to relate to for young readers.
