BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) -- ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
The Book of Space Rockets uses a robot named Cogz and his mouse friends to describe the various rockets, shuttles, satellites, and rovers humans have sent into space. Cogz also explains a bit about the history of space exploration.
While no actual photos are provided, generous illustrations and an interesting layout add a lot of visual appeal. Both the illustrations and information are aimed at a younger audience to provide a basic knowledge of rockets, which students can then deepen with further reading from more-complex books. A nice, kid-friendly introduction to the subject.
