BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) -- ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
The Book of Cars and Trucks uses a robot named Cogz and his mouse friends to teach about the cars, campers, trucks, and fire engines humans use to make their lives better. Cogz also explains a bit about the history of vehicles and describes the various parts each contains.
While no actual photos are provided, generous illustrations and an interesting layout add a lot of visual appeal. Both the illustrations and information are aimed at a younger audience to provide a basic knowledge of land vehicles, which students can then deepen with further reading from more-complex books. A nice, kid-friendly introduction to the subject.
