Sage and Priscilla, both about to turn 12yo, have always been at odds because of the Contrarium Curse they inherited from their mothers, who used to be best friends. One is rich, while the other is poor. One is popular, while the other is not, and so on. On the way home from school on her birthday, Sage and her best friend stop by the local kitschy store, where the owner, Minerva, gifts Sage with a special candle – one that grants wishes. She also gives Sage some rules and hints that the candle has the power to break the curse. But in order to do that, she’d have to cooperate with Priscilla – no way!
Kids looking for a light read will really enjoy this. And I have plenty of those students at my school.
