Three Vikings, the strongest and the bravest and the smallest - who plays a lyre - are on a quest together, hoping to gain entrance to Valhalla. On their way they work together, but the smallest viking worries that his creative skills won't be enough - he can't seem to best any of the obstacles they meet, but his companions appreciate him, and in the end, we see that everyone is valued, needed and important.
Auerbach's message is straight forward and timely - such a nice story celebrating grit, perseverance, inclusion, and creativity. I loved the Norse mythology, the adorable illustrations and the great storytelling. A terrific read-aloud.
