BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
When Amos is counting sheep to help get himself to sleep, two sullen sheep drop in and are none too happy to be interrupted from what they were doing, plus, there's no fence! So Amos, who is very sleepy, agrees to make them a fence, but none of his efforts are approved by the sheep - they are too picky and demanding (and silly).
Meg McKinley has given us a very clever bedtime story - the sheep are funny and Amos is so accommodating it makes for cute situations. I love Rudge's illustrations - the sheep have clothes on, but it seems to suit them - besides, they can talk. A darling book for a child who just can't get to sleep. After reading "Let me Sleep, Sheep, they'll think twice about counting sheep!
