Maddie and Emily have been best friends forever, and they have the matching friendship bracelets to prove it. But then a new girl comes to school and befriends Maddie. Jealous and hurt, Emily goes off on her own -- and promptly loses her friendship bracelet. Is this a sign that her friendship with Maddie is no longer meant-to-be?
The Un-Friendship Bracelet is a promising start to a new series. I love that the girls provide both strong and realistic role models, and the diverse characters are welcoming to a variety of students. The ample illustrations and large font make this story accessible for younger students who are new to chapter books. The inclusion of S.T.E.A.M. topics is a wonderful addition, as is the afterword, which teaches students how to make friendship bracelets of their own.
