This lift the
flap board book features a food truck that serves the same shaped food on a particular
day of the week, for example: square food on Mondays, like cheese and ravioli.
On Thursday’s, rectangle food is served like a popsicles and ice cream
sandwiches. Readers lift the flap to discover the food and sometimes jokes,
like the wrong shaped food. The pages are bright and colorful, the book itself
a fun shape as well.
The colors of
this book, as well as the cover, are really appealing. That being said, I am
not sure how many young readers are familiar with food trucks. Most of the food
under the flaps were junk food or sort of made up, I would have like to have
seen more easily recognized food. There is sort of a mishmash of shapes as
well, which would be confusing . For example on Fridays there are heart and
star foods, served on round plates, with triangle napkins and flaps of hearts
and stars with one of the food items shaped like a crescent. I wouldn’t buy
this book for my little one.
