In this book a
toddler realizes that his mom’s belly is getting bigger. Then she sits down to
talk to him about it, then a crib is set up in his room, and he doesn’t look
happy. Finally a baby arrives and he finds he enjoys being a big brother. The illustrations are simple and easy to understand.
I’m a big fan
of wordless book and this is a decent one for introducing the concept of a
second child. That being said, I think young readers who hadn’t experienced
this in their own family, might have a lot of questions for a pre-school
teacher. As a parent I think I would choose a book with a bit more information
if I was in the situation of having to explain a pregnancy to a youngster,
especially what a good big brother or sister acts like.
