This is part of the “Makers Make it Work” series. Gia is a young girl of color who is going camping with her dad. Her dad is forgetful and Gia uses her sewing skills to help when things go wrong camping and to make her dad a vest to keep all of the things he often misplaces.

I really like seeing an interracial family and also an involved dad so casually illustrated. This book will push young readers - the vocabulary is elevated and the length is long for a picture book. It reads a bit like a chapter book, but without chapter divisions.
