What is different about you? A wide variety of children introduce themselves and their differences – the things that people stare at them for, but never ask them about.
Sotomayor talks about how much she wished other kids and the adults around her would have asked about her diabetes when she was younger. I do have to wonder how many children are actually comfortable constantly answering the same questions over and over again. As much as I love the celebration of differences, I am not so sure about the “just ask” part. I’d love to hear from others about this.
