This book features a morning in the forest, as a chain of events causes animals, one after the other, to wake up for the day. The mouse squeak wakes up the chipmunks, who cause an acorn to fall in the river, which causes the trout to wake up, and so on. The illustrations are large and perfectly convey an early morning dawn.
This book is incredibly illustrated, just gorgeous. The images are easily large enough to share with a group. I like that it features animal sounds, as often pictures book focus so much on seeing rather than hearing the characters. It would make a great introduction to a forest animals unit or a lesson on what does morning look and sound like at your house?
