Though he was born the son of a failed trader on a small Caribbean island, Alexander Hamilton grew up to be the first secretary of the treasury – an influential part of the beginnings and growth of the new nation.
In an elementary library, I would buy every one of Adler’s picture book biographies. Because the subjects are historical, they are a timeless purchase, with illustrations that won’t feel dated.
