Vita and her mother have come over from England to bring Vita’s grandfather home.  The family estate, Hudson Castle, has been stolen out from under her grandfather by a shady business man.  Vita is determined to save her grandfather’s beloved home somehow, but she will need the help of two circus boys and a girl pickpocket if she is to succeed.

Though the time period is not specified, but if the Dillinger mentioned is John Dillinger, then it’s about the 1930’s. There are many exciting parts of Rundell’s story. If you have students who liked Rundell’s Rooftoppers book then you should get this also.
