Cam lives on the mountain with his grandfather, but he wishes to see the sea. One day the small stream near his home calls to him and he follows it all the way down to the wild ocean.

The progression of the river growing from creek to ocean and illustrations are a beautiful.  What disturbs me is the lack of believability that a young boy would run off with nothing and make it all the way to the sea and back in what seems like a single day.  It would have been so easy to have child and grandfather set off on the adventure together and show the progression of time to show how far creek and ocean are from each other.  Plus it teaches that if an adult tells you “not now” that you should just run off and do what you want.
