A graphic novel featuring four short
new fairy tales. Hip Hop wish is about a genie who is determined to grant the
person who released him the requisite wishes. The singing rock is about a witch
who hates to hear singing. The sorcerer’s new pet is about a wizard who is too
lazy to come up with his own spells. Ogreish art is about a painter who is only
able to discover the true joy in creating once he is in grave danger.
This is a fantastic book that would
be a great addition to an elementary library graphic novel collection. It could
be used as part of a lesson about fairy tales, what are the elements that make
a story a fairytale, can there be new fairy tales? The stories are interesting,
well written, quirky, and lighthearted. My favorite was the longest one,
Ogreish Art, is reminds us all about honesty and the joy of creativity. The
artwork is just fantastic.
