A red fox feels winter coming on and asks different woodland animals what he should be doing to prepare. A worm, a turtle, a bat, a squirrel, geese, a snowshoe hare, and a black bear all tell the fox what they do to get ready for winter but none of these actions seems right for the fox. Finally, the fox meets another fox who explains that winter is their time to dance.
This is a beautiful fall and winter book. The pictures are moody but cute and there is a lot of information packed in here about what animals do as the seasons change. I would have liked a bit more rhythm from the text, but the story works well none the less.
