Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is out for a walk through the jungle. Every step of the way he finds something amazing--a spider's web covered in rain drops, a log that looks like a crocodile, or even a patch of flowers more colorful than himself! Despite all these wonders, Elmer has no luck getting anyone else to appreciate them. Elephants, hippos, birds, monkeys and more all pass him by insisting they have no time. Its only when Elmer runs into his cousin, Wilbur, that he finds a friend willing to stand together quietly and watch the night arrive.
My kids enjoyed previous books with Elmer and this one was no different. He's a great character with basic, but perfect, illustrations to compliment his story. I wasn't blown away by the tale in this picture book, but its an easy story for preschoolers, especially, to understand and appreciate. Overall its a fun book that young readers will like and preschoolers will love.
